Though my grandfather was born in Brazil, our family holds deep historic connections to Chaves, Portugal. His relationship with wine deeply influenced my upbringing. Though he passed when I was young, his memory remains etched in my heart. The enchanting aromas of his cellar sparked a lifelong journey—one that led me to the Douro, a region steeped in history and revered craftsmanship.
The Douro’s rugged vineyards stand as a testament to resilience and dedication. For generations, winemakers have coaxed greatness from this challenging terrain. To me, the Douro represents the pinnacle of winemaking, where passion and tradition converge, yielding wines of remarkable depth and complexity.
Crafting wines in homage to these Portuguese traditions is both an honor and a tribute to my grandfather’s lasting connection. With pride, we carry this legacy forward, infusing every bottle with the essence of the Douro’s timeless craft.
Growing up immersed in California wines and shaped by Napa Valley, we, Melania DaSilva Deaver and Ryan Deaver, carried that passion across continents. After nearly a decade of ventures in Costa Rica and calling Portugal home since 2019, we’ve explored wines globally. Married for 29 years and proud minority business owners, we now channel that dedication into Eden do Sol. With two special reds crafted, we’re now bringing that global adventure to life in every glass.
